As a photographer and current bride myself, I was so stressed when it came to picking my own wedding photographer. I knew I was going to be picky & that’s totally ok! Your wedding is such a special day & you deserve to have each moment captured just how you want it. So, to help ease some of your stress when picking a wedding photographer, I have compiled a list of 5 questions to ask before booking your photographer!
There are so many different photography styles out there! Some photographers shoot only posed photos, while others go for more of a lifestyle, candid vibe! Photographers’ editing styles vary as well. Some choose to edit with very natural colors, some choose to be soft & bright while others edit with dark & moody tones. Choosing what you like is all a matter of preference!
Personally, my shooting style is very natural! With me as your photographer, you will of course get the classic posed photos, but I mainly seek to capture real emotion & candid moments! I guide my couples with prompts & suggestions to help create a comfortable atmosphere for natural moments. Those lead to the dreamy photos you’ll remember.
I define my editing style as bright & airy. When you look at my photos, I want you to think of happiness! I use my colors and tones to reflect that so that your photos will be classic, timeless & memorable!
I know how to “after session” anticipation feels! You are constantly checking your phone for a sneak peek from your photographer & you’re trying not to be annoying, but want to text them & check on the progress daily! Trust me… I’ve been there! That’s why it’s important to ask your photographer how soon you’ll receive your final wedding gallery.
I promise all of my couples a one month turnaround time. Many wedding photographers give a two month delivery time minimum, so I work hard to ensure my couples get their photos back quickly, but that I still have enough time to devote to making your images gorgeous.
It is also important to ask how you will receive your images. Do they send them via dropbox, an online gallery, a USB drive or do you not get digital files at all? This important to clarify from the beginning so you know what you’re getting. All of my couples will receive their photos digitally in a custom designed & curated online gallery. From there, you have the rights to download, share & print your images as you’d like!
Along with reviewing their base packages, you will want to see what, if any, add on options the photographer offers. For some, everything is included & for others, you can customize your options!
I offer four base packages that I think will fit most of my couples desires, but each package is completely customizable with many different add on options! You are able to add on an engagement session, bridal session, boudoir session, extra hours and even an extra shooter! I work hard to provide my couples with simple packages they can pick easily and lots of extra options if they are looking for something more specific to them! It’s a win win!
Since there are so many different photographers, there are many different ways of doing business! I always recommend that you ask this questions so that both of you are upfront with your wants & expectations before booking.
My promise to my couples is to be more than just a photographer. I love to set up a time, even prior to booking, to meet face to face or over Facetime so that we can get to know each other. I truly believe that you should feel comfortable with your photographer since it’s such an important day! Prior to the wedding, I want to be there to help you with any questions or vendor references. I also work with you to create a customized timeline for your wedding day. It’s my goal that by your wedding day you’ll feel that I am basically a bridesmaid with a camera!
Weddings are special. They aren’t just another routine day to me. Although I have been a part of many wedding days, I truly find the unique beauty in each one of them. Every couple is so unique and their wedding day is a true testament to their love. I love every moment of the wedding day. I love seeing the giddy excitement on a bride’s face while she’s getting ready. Spending time photographing the groomsmen is always a fun experience. I love listening to the vows shared between the couples in front of their closest friends & family. I’m brought to tears during the first dances. And I love stealing the couples away for sweet photos of just the two of them!
It really is hard for me to say what I love most about photographing weddings because it’s truly my passion. And whether you’d like me to be a part of your wedding day or someone else, I encourage you to make sure that it’s their passion too!
